Driving 1,000 Laps for Type 1 Diabetes

Some challenges are about becoming a better racing driver. Others are about making a difference.

Type 1 diabetes affects members of George's close family, giving him a personal understanding of the daily challenges the condition brings. Wanting to raise awareness and show his support, George set himself the goal of completing 1,000 laps on the simulator in one month.

The challenge was proudly supported by Breakthrough T1D, the leading global Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organisation. Their encouragement helped shine a spotlight on the challenge and the importance of raising awareness of the condition.

Completing 1,000 laps required determination, discipline and focus. Every session tested George's concentration and commitment, but every lap also represented something much bigger than motorsport. It was an opportunity to use his passion for racing to support a cause that means a great deal to him.

Throughout the challenge, George received fantastic encouragement from friends, family and the wider motorsport community. Their support helped raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes and highlighted the resilience shown every day by those living with the condition.

The 1,000 Laps Challenge has become an important milestone in George's journey. It reflects the values that guide him both on and off the track, hard work, perseverance and using his platform to make a positive impact.

George hopes this will be the first of many opportunities to support worthwhile causes as his motorsport career develops. While his ambition is to compete at the highest level, he also wants to use his journey to inspire others and give something back to the community.
